If you had asked me for a book recommendation that included rock n’ roll bands, music industry troubles, romance, family, substance abuse, a will they-won’t they conspiracy, and nostalgia all wrapped up in the sixties to seventies era… Daisy Jones & the Six by Taylor Jenkins Reid would have been the only recommendation. While that may seem a bit on the nose and specific, there’s not a single story I would have recommended more to those wanting to dip their toes into reading fiction; and with a nostalgic seventies vibe that has a little bit of everything for everyone, where can you go wrong? I mean, who am I to gatekeep someone’s possible favorite book when there is now an Amazon Prime series that they can compare to? Because believe me, there’s definitely going to be a comparison soon from yours truly.
Honestly, prior to reading this story it had been a good minute since I had resonated with characters in a book that felt wholly real and easy to grasp that weren’t part of an epic multi-book fantasy series (we all know the one). I would even take a stab at saying that my graphic tees and vinyl collection are thanking Taylor Jenkins Reid for the renewed love they’re receiving since reading this gem.
